What exactly am I buying?

You’re purchasing access to a template that enables you to create your own website. It is content managed by you, which means you can change the content as much as you want, when you want. Don’t worry, we’ve made it really straightforward to do.

The Minimalist Package lets you create a white-walled gallery where you can show your work. You have the flexibility to group work in different categories in much the same way that you’d curate a regular show. There are also pages for written content, like a biography or a piece about the methodology behind your work. The Capitalist add-on enables you to create an online shop. The Exhibitionist add-on is a publicity tool-kit that helps you manage press enquiries, post press releases, create a live news feed, maintain a diary of events and write a blog. Click here to see what you can create. We’ve tried to think of everything you’ll need, but if we’ve missed something, let us know, and we’ll try and incorporate it.

How do I pay for my website?

You can pay by cheque, bank transfer or via this form, using a debit/credit card.

Can you register my domain name for me and how much does it cost?

Yes, we will register a .co.uk or .com domain as part of the package cost.

What if I already have a domain name?

That’s fine. Let us know what it is and we’ll apply it to your site.

What if the domain name I want is not available?

If ‘yourname’.com or .co.uk isn’t available, we’ll suggest available alternative .com and .co.uk constructions, based on your name.

Do I need to host my website with you?

Yes. If you already have hosting we can show you how to point your domain at our server. Alternatively, we can do it for you. Our hosting package comes with an email address and full website reporting statistics.

How much does web hosting cost?

It’s free for the first year, and from as little as £8.25 per month thereafter. See The Package page for more details.

Can you help me with setting up my gallery for the first time?

Our content management system is so easy to use we’re pretty confident you’ll be able to do it yourself, but if you do have problems, we’ll talk you through it. Just send us an email and we’ll call you back at a convenient time. Every package includes the option of an hour’s free one-on-one tuition. Additional sessions can be booked at a cost of £25 per hour. If you’re still not confident in doing it yourself, we can always set your gallery up for you, at an additional cost of £250.

How many images can I have in the gallery?

Up to 499. If that’s not enough, let us know and we’ll sort out another deal.

How easy is it to set up a shop?

Very easy. We’ll give you a simple set of instructions when you buy The Capitalist add-on that will tell you all you need to know, including how to set up a PayPal Merchant account. You tell us your account number; we’ll do the rest. An hour’s free tuition is included with this add-on, so if you do get stuck, just give us a call and we’ll talk you through it.

How do I prepare my images for the gallery?

You just need to make sure they’re no bigger than 1000px on their longest side, and saved at 72dpi. The White Room will do the rest.

Some of my images are on transparencies and negatives. Can you help with scanning images?

Yes, we can scan images in almost any format, from £2.50 each.

I’d like my work professionally photographed; can you help?

Sure. We come over to your studio. Prices start from £50.

Can I have a different layout or template?

We are professional web developers, so if the white space of The White Room is not for you, we’d be more than happy to talk to you about building a bespoke website. Prices start from £1000.
